Salut mes amis!! Et Bienvenue, à Nattie & Clare.
Around 23years ago a little girl was born, her mum wanted to call her Fleur (like the fleur de lyse) but her dad insisted he could not spell it, therefore Natalie Clare was named.
Natalie Clare, came from a biggish family, she has one older brother and two younger sisters. She had a loving family, and would spend all her summers, trailing around the west of France, at her grandparents farmhouse. Going on treasure hunts, picking wild flowers and going on bike rides through the countryside.
She had loving grandparents, her Granny who loved to sew and a grandma who loved to knit and crochet. She spent her childhood, making, creating and having a good time, with friends, siblings and cousins a like.
She soon grew up, but her love for being creative, never wandered. She would make cakes, with her mum and grandma. Learn to knit and crochet (which was a hard task - when you are left handed) but once she learnt the skill, she couldn't stop.
The creative gene ran in the family, and one Summer the family found themselves with an empty shop - and a constant supply of home baked cakes. That was when, Knight's Cake 'n' Shake was born. A small pop up Weekend Cafe, to sell cakes, smoothies and crafts. Was that a dream Natalie Clare often wondered. For when she departed for Uni the shop was closed, a quick, cheerful adventure.
She decided to continue, doing what she loved in life, and went to University to study Fashion and textiles - but her desire to connect with her Summers spent in France never wondered far from her mind.
She was discovering a way she could improve her french and spend some time, in the country she had so many fond memories of, then suddenly her Grandma became very ill.
She was diagnosed with Cancer, and a few months later she passed away. Sad and disheartened, she looked to the future, knowing she wanted to live a life as interesting as her grandmas.
One week later she applied for Erasmus, searching for Universities in France, but nothing was working out for her. Then one day her tutor suggested Helsinki, Finland... Yes she did it. One life changing year, to discover... life as they say.
Now she is spending her summer in France.. appreciating life the french way.
Putting all her thoughts about the things she loves and loathes about life, into her blog. From cooking, adventures, creating and culture.
And so is life, Joie de vivre.
